Formaldehyde Free FF Range
The FF range from Akzo Nobel has all the same high-quality attributes as traditional Acid-curing and PU Alkyd products without the Formaldehyde and features an extended pot-life of up to five days.
In 2014 formaldehyde was reclassified as a Carcinogen Category 1B. As a Category 1 carcinogen, the use of formaldehyde is now about to be regulated by the Carcinogen and Mutagen Directive in EU workplaces. The central concept of this prime directive is ‘protection of workers against risks to their health and safety, including the prevention of such risks, arising or likely to arise from exposure to carcinogens or mutagens at work’.
AkzoNobel’s FF range greatly reduces the risk to human health by removing the formaldehyde carcinogen whilst still providing a system with the same high-quality attributes as traditional Acid-curing and PU Alkyd coatings required in the industry.
These include excellent adhesion to wooden substrates, fast drying and stacking properties as well as allowing for pigmented products.
The FF range provides a great alternative to traditional acid curing products which is safer for spray shop workers and end customers.
Quantum Acrylic PU Range
Symphoy Coatings supply AkzoNobel’s Quantum and QuantumColor PU Acrylic ranges aimed at providing a real interior solution to a vast array of applications. The ranges include everything from primers through to sealers, primers, top coats and specialty finishes designed to be applied by spray to interior furniture, fittings and cabinets providing good heat and chemical resistance.
Quantum acrylic based polyurethane coatings are chemically curing solvent based coatings in which two raw material groups ( hardener and binder) react with one another. When completely cured PU acrylic coatings form insoluble, extremely durable PVC-safe coating films that are suitable for all types of wood. Their main feature is that they are highly resistant to chemicals and provide very good surface hardness. For simplicity both ranges use the same hardeners and thinners.
